What is Graphic Design for Screen? - Flash Websites

Focusing on design for screen I thought it would be a good idea to look at flash websites, here a few that I came across that I thought worked really well. The first one i loved, its so interactive so users can look at changing individual features of the face, works really well and is a real laugh as well. The second link i found was a website for a marketing company, again a really interactive website although there was a lack of visual consistency didn't real appeal to me. 

Looking at flash websites has made me really think about web design and how I would like to look at learning some basic flash skills, although I am able to use dream weaver to create basic websites I think that there is so much more that can be done with flash.

Really like the opening of the mojito website, use of an graphic image that rotates around before showing all the options. Works really well for once im not too sure about the colours and the rest of the layout as some of the type is a bit small as well but overall a great website. Really creative.

Again another really good website a mix between flash and then some static areas as well. Like the change when you click on another link the new image at the top works really well. Think the overall all website is really good quite simple and easy to follow, often you find that flash websites can be hard to navigate around but think that this one is really good and simple to look around. 

OUGD102 - Collection 100 - Maps

 

Looking at maps for ideas and inspiration as well as seeing how they're laid out. The map at the top which is a map of punjab works quite well as it folds together like a book but then opens up into a larger map. Unfortunately couldnt get hold of any UK fold out maps. Was interesting to look at the key on various maps as well as all the other information on maps. Looking at various maps has given me a few ideas as to how I can develop mu collection 100 project.

Collection 100 - Packaging

Having looked at where I have got to with my work I decided to look at how I could package my work, The package will contain a map, directory and leaflet, so will essentially be a kit containing information about Gurdwaras. Before I start getting and design ideas together I thought it would be useful to look at some existing packaging concepts.


Below are some of my favourite bags and packaging concepts from cyberpac. Focusing more on the packaging I think the Fitzpatrick Design Ideas Tool Kit Box works the best, the individual compartments would easily the Gurdwara directory, map and leaflet. Also the box would not even need to be that deep so it would be quite small. Also looking at bags that could contain the contents - which could be available at Gurdwaras as well as given to non Sikhs and others who are interested in finding out about Gurdwaras and where they can find their local Gurdwara..
